Iraq - Data in Emergencies Monitoring Household Survey 2021

The FAO has developed a monitoring system in 26 food crisis countries to better understand the impacts of various shocks on agricultural livelihoods, food security and local value chains. The Monitoring System consists of primary data collected from households on a periodic basis (more or less every four months, depending on seasonality). The FAO launched a fifth-round household survey on 14 June 2021 in Iraq. The sample of 1,354 agricultural households was derived from a list of farmers registered with the Ministry of Agriculture and is therefore not representative of the country’s entire population or agricultural population. Using computer-assisted telephone interviews, 385 households per governorate were interviewed across Ninewa, Duhok, Diyala and Maysan governorates, representing Iraq’s distinct agro-ecological regions.
