United National General Assembly Voting, 1946-2013

The data set contains the voting behavior in the United Nations General Assembly based on the UNBisNET Voting Records (http://unbisnet.un.org) for the time period 1946-2013.

Individual votes are coded as (http://research.un.org/en/docs/ga/voting): YES, NO, ABSTAIN, ABSENT (coded as blank space in the original source), INELIGIBLE (based on code 9 in the UNBisNET data base)
Missing indicates that the country was not a UN member/did not exist at the time of voting.

The data is a delimted text-file (delimiter: semi-colon), some fields (title, documents) are enclosed in double-quotation marks

The original source included some typos (e.g., codes for votes: NY, 9, 90), these were addressed by manually checking the meeting records and adding the correct information.

This is a first draft version, additional checks should be carried out before using the data (e.g. making sure that all countries are included for the relevant time periods, cross-validation using other data sets). Missing blank spaces (for absent) cannot be positively identified in this version.
