Study materials for "Researcher Attitudes to Data Sharing" - NACE-RADS (QUT HREC 9238) Lay Summary: Australia has one of the highest rates of allergic diseases globally. The National Allergy Centre of Excellence (NACE) has been tasked with accelerating allergy research to address the growing burden of allergic disease in this country. One core activity of NACE is building a national Allergy Biorepository (ALBI), to improve the sharing of allergy research data. However, whilst research guidelines, strongly encourage researchers to share data, it is difficult to do in practice. This project aims to assess the knowledge, attitudes and practices of researchers regarding data sharing in health research using two complementary approaches. This study will analyse information provided by researchers in the Australian and New Zealand Clinical Trail Registry to examine the ways allergy, in comparison to other health and biomedical researchers, are currently sharing their study data. An online digital survey will then focus on allergy researcher knowledge, attitudes and practices regarding health-related data sharing. Outcomes of this project are expected to inform processes for allergy researchers to gain access to data collected and managed in ALBI. This project is important for national health research data sharing broadly, and in particular, to achieve the best outcomes for allergy research data sharing through ALBI, and ultimately to improve the lives of people with allergies in Australia.
