Kite Aerial Photography NIMS grid Barrow, Alaska 2011

Aerial photographs of the Networked Info-mechanical Systems (NIMS) grid in Barrow, Alaska were taken using a rig and kite system. As part of the NIMS grid, white boards were nailed into the tundra to act as Ground Control Points (GCPs). The purpose of these boards was to facilitate the visibility of the grid from the aerial photographs, as well as to facilitate georeferencing using ArcMap GIS. Most of the pictures taken are high resolution although only a few are lacking good quality. The photographs are arranged according to flight date. The kite was flown about 2 times a week throughout June, July and August of summer 2011.

本数据集收录了美国阿拉斯加州巴罗地区网络化信息机械系统（Networked Info-mechanical Systems, NIMS）网格的航空摄影照片，拍摄采用支架与风筝组合系统完成。作为NIMS网格的组成部分，研究人员将白板钉入苔原以作为地面控制点（Ground Control Points, GCPs）。此类白板的功能主要包括两点：一是提升航空影像中NIMS网格的辨识度，二是便于借助ArcMap GIS开展地理配准工作。本次采集的绝大多数照片均为高分辨率画质，仅少量存在画质不佳的情况。所有照片均按照航拍飞行日期进行排序归档。2011年夏季的6、7、8月期间，该风筝系统每周约执行2次飞行作业。
