Storm Drain Effects near Atlanta Industrial Park
收藏资源简介:
Introduction The Atlanta Industrial Park serves as an important place for manufacturing, logistics, and heavy industrial operations. While these facilities are crucial to the local economy, heavy industrial use often introduces negative impacts on the environment and the human population, particularly regarding surface runoff and stormwater management. Industrial sites face a higher risk to be exposed to higher concentrations of pollutants, heavy metals, and chemical residues which can be washed into the municipal stormwater system during significant rain events. Understanding the spatial relationship between these heavy industrial zones and the local stormwater infrastructure is crucial for environmental protection and urban planning. This project aims to use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to identify and analyze the storm drains located within a 10-mile stretch of the Atlanta Industrial Park to evaluate, if any, which specific drains pose the highest environmental risk based on their distance to heavy industrial parcels. Data provided by the City of Atlanta and the City of Atlanta Department of Watershed Management will analyze this spatial relationship.
