Dataset to test the differences between dry weight (mg) of total pollen quantity per staminate flowers of wild and domesticated cucurbit plants. <em>Cucurbita </em>sp. are listed as sororia (wild), argyrosperma (domesticated), moschata (domesticated). One to two staminate flowers from each plant was designated for pollen collection. Anthers were cut at the base and stored in glass vials left to dry in hermetic containers with silica beads. We performed generalized linear mixed models (lme4 function ‘glmer’, Bates 2010) followed by a post hoc Tukey test (emmeans function ‘emmeans’, Lenth 2021). Pollen dry weight was log10 transformed to obtain normality. We used pollen dry weight as the response variable and cucurbit species as the predictive variable. Plant ID was used as a random variable which was nested within a field site to control for site level variation.
