Cross-border trade of rice in East Africa Q4 2021

Rice trade in East Africa reached around 126,000 metric tons in the fourth quarter of 2021. Most of the cross-border trade occurred between Uganda and South Sudan, as the former exported around 79,000 metric tons of rice to the latter. Tanzania to Kenya was the second largest trade flow corridor, with some 24,000 metric tons of rice being traded.
