Major element analyses (v.1)

This dataset contains major element analyses of the rock-forming minerals (olivine, spinel, clinopyroxene, amphibole, mica, plagioclase) of volcanic rocks from the Methana peninsula (Greece). These correspond to lamprophyric enclaves that are reported for the first time in the west margin of the Hellenic Volcanic Arc (Aegean). Major element compositions of all minerals were analyzed upon polished thin sections using a CAMECA SXFive FE Electron Probe Microanalyzer equipped with four wavelength-dispersive and one energy-dispersive spectrometers at the Department of Lithospheric Research of the University of Vienna in Austria. The operating conditions of the machine during the analyses include an accelerating voltage of 15 kV and a beam current of 20 nA. The counting time was 20 s at the peak position and 10 s at each background position. Only in analyses concerning either feldspar or mica mineral phases, a defocused beam of 5 μm diameter was used with a 10 s counting time at the peak position. Calibration was applied to natural and synthetic minerals, whereas intensity data were corrected through the PAP method.
