FLORISTIC DIVERSITY OF CAMPOS RUPESTRES IN THE BRAZILIAN IRON QUADRANGLE

Data on vascular species occurring in campos rupestres (CR) across the Iron Quadrangle (IQ), Minas Gerais, Brazil. Data were inventoried by consulting the literature published over almost eight decades. The compilation of vascular species occurring in CR present in the IQ was carried out by consulting species occurrence records in scientific articles published between 1945 and 2020. The bibliographic survey was carried out on 'Web of Science' and 'Scopus' platforms, occording to the following combination of keywords in Portuguese and English: TS = ("floristic similarity" OR floristic* OR "similaridade florística" OR florística OR floristic* OR phytosociology OR fitossociologia) AND TS = ("Quadrilátero Ferrífero" OR "iron canga" OR “iron duricrust” OR “ferruginous duricrust” OR canga* OR "iron quadrangle" OR ironstone*) AND TS = ("campo ferruginoso" OR "complexo rupestre" OR "rupestrian field*” OR “rock outcrop” OR “ferruginous campo rupestre” OR “quartzitic campo rupestre” OR “campo rupestre” OR “rupestrian grassland*” OR grassland*). We selected articles published in scientific journals with editorial boards that provided precise geographic locations of CR areas over quartzite and itabirite formations present in the IQ. In these articles, we recorded information about the occurring vascular species, geographical coordinates of the study area, and lithotypes of occurrence, The lithotypes of the studied CR were also classified according to the stratigraphic units: supergroup, group, and geological formation, according to the Iron Quadrangle Geological Map. To standardize the information about the plant species mentioned in the different studies, we updated their scientific nomenclature using the Flora do Brasil database (Flora do Brasil 2020) and The World Flora Online - WFO (2022).
