Methamphetamine exposure alter gut microbiota in rat

Incubation of cue-induced drug craving has been demonstrated as the main contributor for high relapse in drug abusers. Recent studies have demonstrated that Methamphetamine induced the dysbiosis of gut microbiota and altered the microbiota composition in both saliva and fecal samples. In the present study, we focus on the relationship between the gut microbiota composition and incubation of Methamphetamine craving using the self-administration model, and test the therapeutic potential of antibiotic treatment to modulate the neuroimmune system to decrease Methamphetamine craving and prevent relapse.
