资源简介:
This collection comprises images, site records, text, spreadsheets, and databases from an open area excavation at the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) checkpoint at Scotch Corner, Middleton Tyas, North Yorkshire. This work was undertaken by Ecus Ltd in February 2024. A multiple ditch system was identified, relating to four phases of field enclosure. Half a ring gully and partial floor surface belonging to a Romano-British roundhouse was also recorded. A finds assemblage comprising four sherds of Samian ware, three sherds of Roman oxidised ware, and abraded fragments of hand-built pottery date the occupation from the 2nd century AD onwards. The project served to confirm the continuation of occupation at Scotch Corner in areas to the east of the extensive excavations carried out in advance of the A1 widening scheme which concluded in 2017.
