Biological characteristics of motile and nonmotile CF clinical isolates of Burkholderia cepacia complex bacteria.

Date of isolation = month/year. Species: BC = B. cenocepacia, BM = B. multivorans. Strain types were determined previously for these isolates by RAPD [23], [50]. Western blotting was performed on whole cell extracts using a polyclonal anti-B. pseudomallei flagella antibody [36] as we have described previously [37]. Results are representative of three independent experiments and are positive or negative for the presence of a band at either 45 kDa or 55 kDa – the variants of flagella known to be produced by BCC bacteria [41].
