Abundance of denitrifying bacteria in Louisiana salt marshes two years after the Deepwater Horizon oil spill (July 2012)

This dataset contains values for abundance denitrifying bacteria collected from 13 marshes in Terrebonne Bay (TB), western Barataria Bay (WB), and eastern Barataria Bay (EB), LA. In TB and EB we sampled two oiled marshes and two unoiled marshes, and in WB we sampled three oiled marshes and two unoiled marshes. At each marsh, we collected 5-cm deep soil cores along a 20-m transect from the marsh edge and collecting soil samples every 5 m. Each sample was analyzed for abundance of denitrifying bacteria by targeting the nitrite reductase gene (nirS). Marshes were sampled in July 2012.

本数据集涵盖采自美国路易斯安那州（Louisiana, LA）特雷邦纳湾（Terrebonne Bay, TB）、巴拉塔里亚湾西部（western Barataria Bay, WB）及巴拉塔里亚湾东部（eastern Barataria Bay, EB）的13处湿地的反硝化细菌（denitrifying bacteria）丰度数据。其中，在TB与EB区域各采集2处油污湿地与2处未油污湿地的样本，WB区域则采集3处油污湿地与2处未油污湿地的样本。每处湿地均沿自湿地边缘延伸的20米样带，以每5米1个的间隔采集5厘米深的土壤岩芯。每份样本均通过靶向亚硝酸还原酶基因（nitrite reductase gene, nirS）测定反硝化细菌的丰度。全部湿地采样工作于2012年7月完成。
