Trout Bog Lake bacterioplankton and electrode biofilms from 2019 to 2021

Samples from Trout Bog Lake were analyzed to investigate the bacteria with extracellular electron transfer genes growing planktonically and from biofilms on carbon cloth electrodes at specific depths. Some of the planktonic bacteria were found to express the extracellular electron transfer genes. Electrical and chemical environmental measurements were also collected in combination with the metagenomes to investigate diurnal patterns that may relate to the activity of bacterioplankton using extracellular electron transfer. Extracellular electron transfer is a common form of metabolism in many humic lakes like Trout Bog Lake.
