VPRS 11219 Australian Science Archives Project Archival Database System - Generation Victoria Records

Between 1995 and 1997 the Australian Science Archives Project (ASAP), a consultancy group specialising in scientific and technical records, was employed by SECV to identify records that SECV had allocated to Generation Victoria that could bedistributed to a new generation company;copied and distributed to several generation companies;retained by the SECV shell;transferred to PRO; ordestroyed.The records had come from a number of areas of SECV, were stored in diverse locations and had originally been created in a number of different recordkeeping systems used at different times in SECV. ASAP collected data on all records it examined and created a new database with new controls symbols allocated to all files. This enabled control to be exerted over the whole body of records with a single electronic database.Nonetheless, original recordkeeping systems are able to be identified within the whole body ofrecords. Some of those, have been transferred to PRO in other series such as VPRS ZZZZZ, XXXXX ,YYYYY and QQQQQ.Date RangeThis series was created between 1995 and 1997 by ASAP acting as an agent for SECV. ASAP retains ownership of the database but has provided licences for its use to parties to whom records have been distributed.
