Damage of measured samples due to the X-ray beam can both ruin the recorded data and make the sample unfit for further research. Direct measurement of the effect of the X-ray beam on mock-up historical pigments using both X-ray diffraction and hyperspectral imaging will allow optimisation of the beamline setup to minimise this damage. The pigments chosen are those often brought to ID13. This will therefore lead to a better signal-to-noise ratio in all following ID13 experiments while preventing damage, as well as informing the wider field about the damage mechanisms of these pigments.
