Dataset for An Empirical Study of Hackathon Code Creation and Reuse

This dataset is corresponds to our extended analysis done for “The Secret Life of Hackathon Code Where does it come from and where does it go?” (https://doi.org/10.1109/MSR52588.2021.00020, pre-print at: https://arxiv.org/abs/2103.01145) and “Tracking Hackathon Code Creation and Reuse” (https://doi.org/10.1109/MSR52588.2021.00085, pre-print at: https://arxiv.org/pdf/2103.10167). The replication package including the scripts used for generating this dataset from the “World of Code” (https://worldofcode.org/) dataset is available in Github link https://github.com/woc-hack/track_hack. The dataset contains the blob hashes used in the scope of the analysis and the analysis outcome. The columns are as following <strong>DevpostID</strong>: Devpost identification for the hackathon project and it can be used to get the URL for the devpost.com website. Example DevpostID -q9nd5 can be translated to https://devpost.com/software/-q9nd5 <strong>ProjectID</strong>: The Github project name <strong>HackathonEndDate</strong>: Hackathon event end date <strong>BlobHash</strong>: The blob hash used in the analysis <strong>BeforeHackathon-DuringHackathon-AfterHackathon</strong>: This column represents if the blob was first introduced before/during/after the hackathon (1: before, 2: during, 3: after) <strong>SameAuthor-Contributor-OtherAuthor</strong>: This column represents if the blob was first created by someone in the hackathon team, or someone who was a contributor to a project in which one of the members of the hackathon project contributed to as well (contributor), or someone else outside of the hackathon team (1: Author is a hackathon team member, 2: Author Contributed before with a hackathon team member, 3: Author is not related to the hackathon team). <strong>UsedBySmallProject-UsedByMediumProject-UsedByLargeProject</strong>: This column represents if the hackathon blob is reused again after the hackathon event and what is the project size that reused the code (1: not reused, 3: reused in small project, 4: reused in medium project, 5: reused in large project)本数据集对应我们为两篇学术论文开展的拓展分析，两篇论文分别为《黑客松代码的隐秘生命周期：其来源与去向》（DOI: 10.1109/MSR52588.2021.00020，预印本链接：https://arxiv.org/abs/2103.01145）与《追踪黑客松代码的创作与复用》（DOI: 10.1109/MSR52588.2021.00085，预印本链接：https://arxiv.org/pdf/2103.10167）。 包含从“代码世界”（World of Code，https://worldofcode.org/）数据集生成本数据集所用脚本的复现包，已开源至GitHub仓库：https://github.com/woc-hack/track_hack。 本数据集包含本次分析所使用的Blob哈希值，以及对应的分析结果。各字段说明如下： - **DevpostID**：黑客松项目的Devpost标识，可用于拼接获取其在devpost.com官网的项目页面。示例：DevpostID为`-q9nd5`的项目，其访问链接为`https://devpost.com/software/-q9nd5`。 - **ProjectID**：GitHub项目名称。 - **HackathonEndDate**：黑客松活动结束日期。 - **BlobHash**：本次分析所使用的Blob哈希值。 - **BeforeHackathon-DuringHackathon-AfterHackathon**：该字段用于标识该Blob哈希首次被引入的时间节点，分为大赛前（取值1）、大赛期间（取值2）与大赛后（取值3）三类。 - **SameAuthor-Contributor-OtherAuthor**：该字段用于标识该Blob哈希的首次创建者与黑客松团队的关联关系：取值1表示创建者为黑客松项目团队成员；取值2表示创建者曾与该黑客松项目团队成员有过项目协作经历；取值3表示创建者与该黑客松团队无任何关联。 - **UsedBySmallProject-UsedByMediumProject-UsedByLargeProject**：该字段用于标识该黑客松代码Blob哈希在赛事结束后的复用情况，以及复用项目的规模：取值1表示未被复用；取值3表示在小型项目中被复用；取值4表示在中型项目中被复用；取值5表示在大型项目中被复用。
