Enhancing Indonesian Student Wellbeing through Chat AI in the Smart University Learning Environment

This study investigates how AI-powered conversational agents (Chat AI) influence students’ academic and emotional wellbeing within Smart University Learning Environments (SMLE) in Indonesia. The paper extends the UTAUT–SDT framework by integrating psychosocial constructs such as academic resilience, emotional safety, and stress reduction into the AI adoption model. Utilizing data from 304 university students and applying both multivariate regression and decision tree analysis, the study highlights Chat AI’s potential to foster adaptive learning experiences and student resilience. As one of the first empirical studies in the Indonesian context, this research also addresses local digital disparities, sociocultural barriers, and the need for inclusive emotional support in smart education. It offers both theoretical innovation and practical strategies for higher education digital transformation in emerging economies.本研究旨在探究人工智能驱动的对话智能体（Chat AI）对印度尼西亚智慧大学学习环境（SMLE）中学生的学业与情感福祉的影响。本研究将学业韧性、情感安全与压力缓解等社会心理构念融入人工智能采纳模型，拓展了UTAUT–SDT框架。本研究采集了304名大学生的调研数据，同时运用多元回归与决策树分析方法，证实了Chat AI可有效助力适应性学习体验的构建与学生学业韧性的提升。作为印尼语境下首批相关实证研究之一，本研究同时聚焦了本土数字鸿沟、社会文化壁垒以及智慧教育中包容性情感支持的现实需求。本研究可为新兴经济体的高等教育数字化转型提供理论创新与实践策略参考。
