Oral administration of PPARdelta agonist in soleus and EDL in mice

We performed RNA-Seq analysis in both slow-twitch fibers predominant soleus and fast-twitch fibers predominant extensor digitorum longus (EDL) muscles 6-h after oral administration of 10 mg/kg GW501516, PPARdelta specific synthetic agonist, in 10-11 week-old C57BL/6J male mice. Results revealed most genes were simultaneously regulated toward slow-twitch fibers in EDL by PPARdelta agonist adiministration, but no alterations were found in soleus. Thus, the reaction of PPARdelta agonist was clearly different between slow and fast twitch fibers predominant muscle tissues.
