Using national survey data from China, we studied 2,002 students in 100 classes to see how teachers influence the link between body weight and peer popularity. Students with a more “standard” BMI were more accepted. Experienced teachers softened this link, while popular teachers and female-led classrooms strengthened it. Results suggest teacher training can promote fairer peer environments.
