Leptothrix is a filamentous bacterium enclosed with sheath. We identified a sheath-less mutant designated lthC mutant. This is a result of DNA sequencing of wild-type and lthC mutant Leptothrix cholodnii SP-6, showing a mutation at the Lcho_3836 locus in the lthC mutant.
