Survey of Housing Conditions 1995, Household Level

This data set is taken from the "Survey of Housing Conditions, 1995" conducted by Statistics Norway (SSB) on behalf of The Ministry of Local Goverment and Regional Development. SSB carried out their own living conditions surveys in 1967, 1973, 1981, 1988 and 1995. Since 1997 the collection of housing data is integrated in the new arrangements for the collection of living data.

The purpose of this study was to provide a broad description of living conditions in Norway, and to identify changes in living conditions over time.

The survey includes the following topics: household size, housing finance (as the cost of rent, light, heat, maintenance, and interest and principal on the mortgage), the property standards, own and lease conditions, disposal of second homes and holiday homes, moving plans and contact with neighbors.

The data set is divided into two files. One file is at the household level, and contains most of the variables. The other is at the individual level per dwelling, and includes variables for individuals in different households.
