This research conducts a cross-linguistic examination of proverbs in Persian, English, and Spanish, applying the TRANSITIVITY and THEME frameworks within the scope of Systemic Functional Grammar (SFG), as articulated by Halliday (1985, 1994, 2004, 2014) and subsequent scholars. The core dataset consists of proverbs drawn from reputable sources, including monolingual dictionaries specific to each language and multilingual online compilations. Adopting a mixed-methods approach, the study incorporates both quantitative and qualitative analyses. Semantic interpretation is guided by the TRANSITIVITY system, aligned with the ideational metafunction of SFG, while syntactic structure is examined through the THEME system, corresponding to the textual metafunction.
