The attached data corresponds to the experimental and simulation results included in the article "Optical polarization control of laser-driven proton acceleration in foils undergoing relativistic transparency". In this article we present an experimental and numerical demonstration that the spatial-intensity distribution of the beam of laser-accelerated protons in ultra-thin foils undergoing transparency is strongly affected by the collective electron dynamics induced by the near-field diffraction pattern. It is also shown that the degree of ellipticity in the laser beam polarization strongly influences the proton beam profile and can thereby be used to control it.
The dataset comprises of TIFF images from supplementary information generated by running EPOCH version 4.3.7. Dataset embargoed until 09/06/17
