<b>Object: Building an interactive map to visualize and develop links between Cultural and Environmental local organizations in Brittany</b>Funded by European Horizon 2020 program within Marie-Sklodowska Curie n 899546, the TEKBreiz project aimed at starting to map out the Traditional Ecological Knowledge of the Breton landscape to support climate-resilient food-system planning and decision-making.We built this map to highlight the culture/nature disconnection between cultural activities and environmental protection in Brittany and help users identify connections order to support a locally-relevant and sustainable ecological transition.We built this layer from a list of all non-profit associations registered in Brittany and:https://data.bretagne.bzh/explore/dataset/associations-les-donnees-du-journal-officiel-des-associations-et-fondations-dent/table/<br><b>Processing:</b>1. To isolate organizations concerned with Breton culture, we extracted a few different sheets with key words search in the full excel database targeting: “environnement”, “nature”, “Breton”, “rural”o Cleaned up these sheets using other key words to exclude non-relevant data pointso Ex:o Consolidated into one CSV sheet2. Geolocated using QGIS CSV import3. Created a Point File Layer in a .shp format with a Coordinate Reference System which enables to identify three themes among the data points:o “Environnement”, “Culture Bretonne” and “Ruralité”<br><b>Analysis Summary:</b>6165 for environmental protection2373 for Breton Culture and Education1306 for rural life and concernsWhen starting this analysis, I wanted to know:1. The presence of overlap between culture and nature in local organizations2. The potential for local collaboration between these the Breton cultural network, and environmental protection initiativesThe analysis confirmed the presence of a wide variety of organizations concerned with environmental protection and Breton culture, with a large prevalence of concerns for the environment, which can be explained by the rising global concerns about climate change, issues of pollution in Brittany and more generally the territorial tensions induced by the negotiation and management of these tensions between different interests and networks of stakeholders: residents, local governments and legislation, etc.<br><b>Limitations:</b>The clean-up method allowed to filter out irrelevant data points, however, given the number of entries, there might be some data points that are only remotely related to the themes and a few data points unrelated to the themes. Also, the dataset came from an official site for the Brittany region which limits the data points extent to the administrative boundaries of Brittany and not its historical boundaries.
