The data was collected from glasshouse growth grass, Brachypodium distachyon to elucidate how elevated CO2 and prior feeding by generalist insect Helicoverpa armigera impacts silicon accumulation and its consequences for subsequent cricket (Acheta domesticus) herbivory. We demonstrate that elevated CO2 decreased (silicon) Si accumulation whereas previous herbivory by the global pest Helicoverpa armigera induced Si defences in B. distachyon.
