MR-guided high-intensity focused ultrasound targeting thalamic nuclei associated with the limbic pain matrix: An IPD-based meta-analysis

MRguided focused ultrasound has been reported to be effective and safe for the treatment of movement disorders and FDA/CE marked for unilateral thalamotomy and most recently for staged bilateral thalamic lesioning. Moreover, MRgFUS has been more and more probed for chronic pain disorders (neuropathic pain) for which MRgFUS. Therefore, the purpose of this meta-analysis was to provide the current state of in human trails in the field of chronic pain along with the assessment of the quality of evidence achieved so far by the published studies.
