Ingesting Digital Data Sets and Project Reports from Soil System, Inc.’s Data Recovery at Pueblo Grande, Phoenix, AZ – FINAL REPORT

In fiscal year 2011, The Soil Systems, Inc. (SSI) Pueblo Grande project was awarded grant funding from the Digital Archaeological Record (tDAR) to preserve SSI’s digital data from a series of archaeological projects conducted at Pueblo Grande village (AZ U:9:7), Phoenix, AZ. These data are the results of incompletely reported projects that SSI directed after completion of the Hohokam Expressway project in the late 1980’s. The project goals were to collect all available digital data from these projects, to transform the data and store them in stable formats, and to make them available to other researchers by curating the data and associated metadata with tDAR software. Ultimately, the project seeks to integrate all of SSI’s digital data on Pueblo Grande (Hohokam-Expressway project data and post-Expressway project data) within the tDAR web-based platform.

The final report outlines the SSI Pueblo Grande project’s activities. Foremost, it provides a project overview that describes a method for migrating legacy digital data into tDAR. Then, it describes how project members transformed SSI’s digital data into stable formats and ingested it into tDAR. Secondly, it discusses the project’s workflow and challenges. It then presents time estimates for the actions identified in the project workflow. Finally, the report concludes with a discussion of the project’s continued commitment to ingesting SSI’s digital data into tDAR.
