Adult Pacific Salmon Diet Program, 2017- ongoing

The Adult Salmon Diet Program Database is a collection of diet data for Pacific salmon with a focus on the diets of chinook (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha) and coho (Oncorhynchus kisutch) salmon. Samples are collected and voluntarily submitted by recreational anglers who record relevant biological and spatial data. The database consists of biological parameters for the salmon (e.g., weight, length, capture location) and the prey items found in the stomach sample. Genetic stock identification for some salmon is determined through tissues samples processed by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada. The data allows for a greater understanding of salmon diet along coastal British Columbia and allows for ecosystem monitoring from the perspective of the salmon themselves.
