Supplementary material for 'Genomic insights into the beneficial potential of Bifidobacterium and Enterococcus strains isolated from Cameroonian infants', as described in Microbial Genomics.<br>The underexplored ecological niches, e.g., the gut microbiota of infants from low- and low-middle income countries (LMICs), could represent a reservoir of novel population-specific beneficial microbes. In this study, we recovered bifidobacteria and from the intestinal microbiota of Cameroonian infants. Their genomic characterisation revealed that strains belonging to <i>Bifidobacterium bifidum</i>, <i>Bifidobacterium breve</i>, <i>Bifidobacterium longum</i> subsp. <i>longum</i>, <i>Bifidobacterium pseudocatenulatum</i>, <i>Bifidobacterium animalis</i> subsp. <i>lactis</i> and <i>Enterococcus mundtii</i> have potential to be considered for further studies aiming at the development of customised probiotics from Cameroon, in particular, and LMICs in general
