FAIRsharing record for: Open Archives Initiative Object Reuse and Exchange

This FAIRsharing record describes: Open Archives Initiative develops and promotes interoperability standards that aim to facilitate the efficient dissemination of content; OAI has its roots in the open access and institutional repository movements. The OAI-ORE is a standard for the description and exchange of compound digital objects (e.g. distributed resources with multiple media types including text, images, data, and video), to expose the rich content in these aggregations to applications that support authoring, deposit, exchange, visualization, reuse, and preservation. The intent of the effort is to develop standards that generalize across all web-based information including the increasing popular social networks of “web 2.0”.
