In this project, the role of small RNAs in regulating Pinus pinaster response to pinewood nematode (Bursaphelenchus xylophilus) was investigated. Plants were artificially inoculated with pinewood nematode (isolate Bx013.003) through a small longitudinal wound made in the main stem. Stem samples were collected 72 hours post-inoculation. Libraries were prepared with the Illumina TruSeq Small mRNA protocol for four susceptible, five resistant and four control (inoculated with water) samples. Libraries were sequenced with Illumina HiSeq 2500.
