Large Scale Biosphere-Atmosphere Experiment in Amazonia (LBA) Cloud Cover

LBA is the Large Scale Biosphere-Atmosphere Experiment in Amazonia project. The LBA-HydroNet V1.0 is the prototype version of a regional hydrometeorological data bank to support water sciences and water resource assessment in South America, Central America, and the Caribbean, using joint pan-American scientific and monitoring station information resources.

This cloud cover data is provided from the Climatic Research Unit of East Anglia. The Climatic Research Unit (University of East Anglia) database (New et al, 1999) contains long term monthly averages (1961-1990), of mean cloud cover, for the terrestrial surface of South America, gridded at 0.5 degree longitude/latitude resolution. Interpolated from station data. The data range in percent is from 18.8% to 78.0%. There was resampling at 0.1 x 0.1 degrees done via the RiverGIS program (&http://www.wsag.unh.edu/&). These data are gridded in the geographic coordinate system with 0.1 degree by 0.1 degree cell sizes.
