Hindgut microbiome of entire male pigs. pig gut metagenome breed:(Norwegian Landrace x Yorkshire) x (Norwegian Landrace x Duroc)

The project study the effects of the inulin-rich diets on the hindgut microbial communities of entire male pigs using 16S rRNA gene metabarcoding. We report our findings in a context of experimentally verified skatole (3-methylindole) producers. The study has been conducted using dried Jerusalem artichoke and dried chicory roots supplied to the basal diet of entire male pigs one week before slaughter. Both experimental diets were formulated to contain the same amount of inulin and thus differed only in composition and content of plant secondary metabolites.
