This dataset compiles elemental and isotopic data from seafloor sediments and sediment cores across globally distributed marine sites. It includes sampling information, organic carbon [OC], total nitrogen [TN], OC/N ratios, inorganic nitrogen [IN] and organic nitrogen [ON] content, δ¹³Corg, bulk nitrogen isotope [δ¹⁵N-Bulk], ON isotope [δ¹⁵N-ON], IN isotope [δ¹⁵N-IN], centennial-scale change rates in sedimentary δ¹⁵N and nitrogen content/accumulation, and reconstructed trends over the past century. This study reconstructs global spatiotemporal variations in δ¹⁵N from modern marine sediments to advance understanding of nitrogen cycling in contemporary ocean systems.
