Diel Gene Expression and Carbon Cycling During a Phaeocystis globosa Bloom

This study contrasts diel carbon cycling and oxygen production during a bloom of the haptophyte alga Phaeocystis globosa with a post-bloom ecosystem state in the Southern North Sea. Through hourly metatranscriptomic sampling and accompanying ecosystem and biogeochemical measurements, we capture shifts in microeukaryotic gene expression profiles over two diel cycles.
