RPGutDB: strain-level microbial genomes/MAGs from the red panda gut microbiome

This repository provides the genome sequences released as part of RPGutDB, a reference genome dataset for the red panda gut microbiome. The files include the final dereplicated strain-level genome set clustered at 99% average nucleotide identity (ANI), together with accompanying metadata (e.g., assembly method, genome quality metrics, and taxonomy).
The genome set integrates genomes recovered from multiple strategies, including PacBio HiFi metagenome assemblies, Illumina short-read metagenome assemblies, hybrid assemblies, and culture-derived isolate draft genomes. Genomes were quality assessed using completeness and contamination estimates, and redundancy was removed by clustering at 99% ANI and retaining a representative genome for each cluster. The resulting non-redundant collection spans bacterial and archaeal lineages and is intended for downstream reuse in read recruitment, taxonomic profiling, and comparative genome-resolved analyses of the red panda gut microbiome.
