Characteristics and mechanisms of ocean fronts-induced decomposition of particulate organic matter and its implication for marine carbon burial

This study aimed to investigate the dynamic changes in fresh POM formed through phytoplankton growth at different stages and intensities of frontal activities using a largescale voyage survey conducted during the summer (July), fall (October), and winter (February) of 2018 to 2019. By combining stable carbon and nitrogen isotopes (δ13C-POC and δ15N-PN) in POM, and geochemical indices, this research elucidate characteristics and mechanisms of strong decomposition of POM induced by ocean fronts and its implication for marine carbon burial.
