Rhodnius prolixus ovarian transcriptome. Rhodnius prolixus

Insect oocytes grow in close association with the ovarian follicular epithelium, which escorts the oocyte during oogenesis and is responsible for synthesis and secretion of the eggshell, degenerating at the end of egg development. Here we describe a transcriptome of ovarian follicular epithelium of the triatomine bug Rhodnius prolixus, an insect vector of Chagas disease, in order to increase the knowledge on the role of follicular epithelium in egg development.
