The mystery of the rare Australian species Erigeron conyzoides (Asteraceae: Astereae)

Erigeron bonariensis (flaxleaf fleabane), native to South America, is a major cropping weed in North America, Europe, and Australia. Phylogenomic analysis of the target weed for a biological control program in Australia has put into question the existence of native fleabanes. Here, molecular data and morphology revise the taxonomy of the putative native Australian Erigeron conyzoides.
