Redistribution of public spaces.

More space for walking and cycling and public transport is an important building block of the mobility transition. On the one hand, this short study shows the status quo of urban traffic areas in favour of motorised individual traffic and its negative consequences. On the other hand, the potential of a redistribution is demonstrated: The more areas are dedicated to environmentally friendly modes of transport, the higher their share of traffic. Finally, international examples show how more and more cities and municipalities use innovative approaches to redistribution of public space and contribute to the sustainable mobility transition.
