We developed 'tyPPing,' a user-friendly pipeline for the sensitive and efficient detection of prevalent phage-plasmid types. Leveraging distinct protein profiles, generated and trained on well-studied P-Ps, tyPPing's performance was validated on novel sequences. Applied to a collection of draft genomes, it successfully identified high-quality phage-plasmids, experimentally confirmed to be active phages.
