资源简介:
A multi-center, cross-sectional study of HIV infected and uninfected males, ages 12 to 24, that evaluated the prevalence and severity of morphologic and metabolic abnormalities in HIV-infected young men and assessed the drug and non-drug factors related to these abnormalities. Differences in glucose metabolism, lipids, lactate, body composition, and bone density between HIV infected and uninfected young men were assessed to understand the pathophysiological effects of protease inhibitor (PI)-based and non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI)-based therapies in young men. One study visit conducted over 1 or more days included survey questionnaires, DEXA scanning, collection of blood and urine specimens, anthropometric measurements, and blood tests examining glucose and lipid metabolism and levels of C-Reactive protein and lactate. Biospecimens are available.
