Natural forests

Identification of forests permanently removed from use in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

In 2008/09, on the basis of the forest base map of the Landesforstanstalt, the Automated Property Map (ALK), the forest maps of the BImA (GB Bundesforst) as well as the city forest forests Lübeck and Rostock, the utilisation plans of the NABU and the German Wildlife Foundation, a spatial data stock of the forest areas permanently left to natural development was compiled in M-V and partly redigitised using digital orthophotos (DOP).

Since 2013, a step-by-step update of the database includes:
— Matching and supplementing according to compensation and eco-account register M-V
— Supplementing information on territorial devaluation
— Coordination with the Landesforstanstalt M-V and the forestry offices in relation to Territorial demarcations and information on the legal basis

Two legends are available for display:
— Legal origin of the natural forest (natwald15.lyr)
— Test result Landesforst (natwald15_foa.lyr)

Important note: The inspection and coordination process with the Landesforstanstalt M-V or the forestry offices is not yet complete. The processing status is documented in the attribute “Authorisation with Forest Office”.
