Identification, isolation and characterization of putative Sb/Cu- metabolizing cold-tolerant microorganisms

The main goal of the present study was to identify, isolate, and characterize microorganisms, from subarctic mining sites, tolerant to the metalloid antimony (Sb) and the metal copper (Cu). This study represents the first isolation, to our knowledge, of putative Sb-metabolizing cold-tolerant microorganisms and contributes to the understanding of metal(loid) microbial communities in Arctic mining sites.
