资源简介:
This collection comprises images from a Level 3 historic building survey at a former Ministry of Defense (MOD) oil fuel depot at Hempsted Lane, Hempsted, Gloucester to satisfy a condition of planning consent for demolition of the structures and construction of a residential development. This work was undertaken by Allen Archaeology in February 2022. This work was undertaken by Allen Archaeology in February 2022. The MOD site at Hempsted functioned as a main oil reserve depot during the Second World War and is likely dated to 1941. The extant structures contain their original reinforced building material but no machinery was left in situ. It is likely that the few modifications observed (blocked openings, enclosed compound) are elements post-dating the Second World War and were introduced during the Cold War period when the Government Pipeline Storage System was updated.
