Palmitoyl-L-carnitine regulates lung development by promoting pulmonary mesenchyme proliferation

Lipids are the main components of cell membranes and lipid droplets, playing crucial roles in various biological processes such as signal transduction, transportation, and the sorting of biomacromolecules. Comprehensive analysis of lipids, known as lipidomics, is a prerequisite for understanding the subtle dynamic changes of lipids during cellular alterations and pathogenic mechanisms. The variations in lipid composition can directly reflect the physiological and pathological states of organisms. Analyzing the changes in lipid profiles during tissue and organ growth and development, as well as deciphering the related metabolic regulatory networks, holds significant biological significance and clinical value. Here, we systematically analyze the dynamic changes of lipid composition in mouse lung organs at different developmental stages using novel lipid profiling techniques. We elucidate the regulatory roles of acylcarnitines and their metabolic networks in lung development.
