The annunciation Mother of God

The Gospel of Luke begins its account of Mary's life with the Annunciation, when the angel Gabriel appeared to her and announced her divine selection to be the mother of Jesus. According to canonical gospel accounts, Mary was present at the crucifixion and is depicted as a member of the early Christian community in Jerusalem. According to the Catholic and Orthodox teaching, at the end of her earthly life her body was assumed directly into Heaven; this is known in the Christian West as the Assumption.《路加福音》以圣母领报（Annunciation）开篇讲述玛利亚的生平——彼时天使加百列向她显现，宣告她被神圣拣选为耶稣的生母。据正典福音书的记载，玛利亚亲临耶稣受难现场，且被描绘为耶路撒冷早期基督教团契的一员。天主教与东正教的教义认为，在其尘世生命终结之际，玛利亚的肉身被直接接升天国；这一教义在西方基督教界被称为圣母升天（Assumption）。
