The Register of Insolvencies listed in summary form details of all cases of insolvency dealt with by the Court of Insolvency. Details included: the insolvent's name, address, occupation, the total amount of assets and liabilities and the name(s) of assignee and trustees.Proceedings of the Court were set out by the statutes governing insolvency in Victoria. These were firstly, the New South Wales Insolvency Acts of 1841 and 1844 and secondly, with the establishment of the Court of Insolvency in the Insolvency Act 1870 the statutes enacted in Victoria. These Acts were superseded in 1928 when Commonwealth insolvency laws were enacted and applied across the commonwealth.The P1 consignment of this series was previously registered as VPRS 1473 unit 3.
