This dataset contains the supporting data for the paper titled “Simulation design of the moderator and collimator of a thermal neutron radiography system based on reactors.” The research utilized the Geant4 Monte Carlo simulation software to design and optimize a novel collimator structure (combining cylindrical and divergent types) along with its associated moderator-shielding system for a reactor-based neutron source. The dataset encompasses the simulation results of multi-parameter optimizations aimed at achieving a high-performance thermal neutron beam. Descriptions of the thermal neutron images obtained from simulating Image Quality Indicators (IQI) based on the ASTM E545 standard, which validate the imaging capability of the system.This dataset provides detailed simulation data to support the design, optimization, and performance evaluation of moderators and collimators in Thermal Neutron Radiography (TNR) devices. It can serve as a reference for comparative studies, model validation, and design insights in related fields.
